The Superyacht Collection is an exclusive range of large sailing and motor yachts available for luxury yacht charters worldwide: the Caribbean, Mediterranean and other glorious sailing destinations such as the Pacific, Bahamas and New England. Within the Mediterranean we can arrange charters in the West Med (France, Italy, Sardinia, Corsica), Croatia & Montenegro and the East Med – Turkey and Greece.
The Caribbean is still the favourite winter (northern hemisphere) destination for many beautiful and luxurious charter yachts with fabulous cruising grounds in the Virgin Islands, St Martin (St Maarten), St Barth’s, Antigua, St Lucia, the Grenadines, Grenada and beyond. In the summer, many of these yachts cross back to Europe and charter in the Mediterranean. Others go to the Bahamas or New England as well as the more far flung parts of the world such as remote Pacific islands.
The Mediterranean season for us kicked off with two excellent charter shows. Barcelona was the new the venue for the MYBA show followed immediately afterwards by the show in Nafplion, Greece. Attending yachts at both shows were impressive.
Barcelona was mostly about motor yachts covering a wide range of sizes from around 21m upwards to 95m superyachts. As well as very new yachts there were several impressive older boats meticulously maintained and refitted. Of the sailing fleet, the 38m Oyster Yachts TWILIGHT was our yacht of the show.
And what a venue Barcelona proved to be with it’s new, well set up marina. The city of Barcelona certainly deserves exploring not least because of all the Gaudi buildings, but the old town of narrow mostly pedestrianized streets is full of small quaint shops, galleries and tempting tapas bars. This city should be on a charter itinerary.
Then on to Nafplion. The old town which rises from the waterfront to the foot of the 999 steps up to Palamidi Castle was looking beautiful and lively with many interesting shops and dozens of tavernas. Again, there were many motor yachts at this show, along with a few catamarans and a small number of monohulls, including traditional motor sailors. One thing in common – the Greek hospitality is overwhelming and it’s very hard to turn down all the tempting and very tasty snacks offered on boarding. Our yacht of this show? – the 1989 Perini GITANA, looking superb as ever.
